Morse 4300 zig zag parts?
1 Attachment(s)
while at the fabric shop my husband was visiting the local pawn shop and snagged this little doll for 10.00 Its a Morse 4300 zig zag in a nice cabinet. Its in great condition but it had been bought and returned cause they could not get it to work. They had it threaded wrong and trying to use a plastic singer bobbin. I got everything cleaned up but it is missing the first little tension eye piece there is just a hole where it goes. Any idea where to find one? Everything else is super clean no rust and moves like silk. ain't she Purdy!

She is beautiful. I can't help you with parts but I know Ebay usually has some different ones.

That part is called a "thread guide." There's a "push in thread guide for a Singer," on Ebay that might work. There's a few purdy vintage Morse machines on Ebay, too. Your machine has some nice chrome!

You can also put a small paper clip in there and twist it to fit. Or use picture frame wire and bend it to make a thread guide until you find the piece that goes on it.

I just had a quick look trying to find a decent shot of your missing thread guide and didn't get very far. Maybe another member who has one can post a quick picture of the thread guide? Rodney |

The thread guide is similar to my babylock Jane a short arm right angled upbut with just two holes not three like my Jane.

is the bobbin case hard to find for one of these? there was one on ebay (may still be there) but from one of the pics I didn't see a bobbin case. will it take any class 15? think it's class 15 didn't research that far into it since I do NOT need to add another machine to the herd when I've already committed to get one next weekend..sigh...didn't make it out there after night shift yesterday morning so that leaves next fri afternoon or sat at the earliest to make the trip out...

Smart looking machine! Have fun!!

It's a Japanese machine. I don't own a Morse but 99% of the Japanese machines use a class 15 bobbin case with the finger pointing toward 1 o'clock.
Most likely it's this one: http://shop.sew-classic.com/Bobbin-C...SCBC1313ZW.htm Rodney |
I have been looking at parts all night and the bobbin cases are not at all hard to find. I am thinking of picking up a spare. Still not finding the part I need but most of the other parts are pretty available. We sent off a few emails to see if we can find one.

Contact Jenny at Sew-Classic.com. She has contacts and sources. She may be able to help you find the right person.

I can't get over how clean this gal is. Almost as if she was at one time restored or was very well cared for. Here she is in her new home. A 1940's queen anne cabinet in Maple. The cabinets just needs the black hinge piece for the cords that fits on the right side of the machine. Found one on ebay that we hope to snag. Will check with Jenny and DH has a email into a couple places for the other parts hope to get to try her soon.

thanks Rodney!

My 50's era Pfaff has a thread guide that sounds like the "hockey stick" piece you're describing. Might try looking at Pfaff parts on eBay too?
That's a really nice looking machine. I think the blue & white color combo is my favorite for old machines. Congrats! |
