Good for you.

I remember the old Singer treadle my mother had! She bought it from the high school home ec department. She had it for many years and I learned to sew on it. Then she bought a Singer slant needle and made many, many little and big dresses for us 4 girls and shirts for my brother. She is in an assisted living home now and her sewing machine is there with her. She has it by her bed as a night stand. It still sews but she doesn't. She is 89 and we are just glad she is with us and is so well of body. I have a treadle cabinet that my father-in-law gave me. It has an old electric head in it and the cabinet is rather rough. I've thought about refinishing it but thought it would take away from the value. Is that right? Or should I restore it?

Keeping my fingers crossed for you and since today is Friday, you must be delighted all ready! What a wonderful find you may have. When Mother passed, my sister took her treadle upon which we each learned how to sew in the 1950s. Unfortunately, the beautiful rose appliqued wood is now dry and has had many a coffee cup sit upon it. I hope Mother does not see down from Heaven what happened to her weekly shined cabinet. I would love to use it once again. The coordination between feet and stitches is a true way to sew. Please keep us posted. I am excited for you.

I have an old singer threadle in a cabinet. It's in really rough shape. My friend picked it up for me at an estate sale in Cape Cod. I don't even know if the machine will work. I started to fix it at one time, but gave up.It's in my sewing room with a TV on it.I really do like looking at it,though. Maybe yours is fixable. Good luck.
