I'm not seeing a lug on the pillar to indicate the bobbin winder was raised to the higher location at some point.

It has the tension release tho. I just went by Singer's listing for the serial number that's posted on ISMACS. It was pointed out to me a couple of months ago that the bobbin winder is not the only indication of difference between the 27 and 127 (and not always reliable) . :)

Start cleaning some space in your sewing room, because one vintage machine is never enough! :D

now i want a treadle. that is my summer bucket list: find a treadle in Oregon that i can afford to fix. i'm in Hawaii right now and there have been a couple on Craigslist being sold just as cabinets. The posts say the machine doesn't work. now i know that it isn't that tough to bring them back to life, i won't be too worried if it seems a bit rough when i find it. too bad it would cost too much to ship one of the ones i found here back.
