Here are pictures of the Elna "Grasshopper". It runs very smoothly and I guess my knee muscle memory from 48 years ago is pretty good because I adjusted to the knee control without any problem! Much more room around the needle than a featherweight--taller and wider. It will be great for piecing when I have the other machine set up for quilting. (Now I have a featherweight that I don't need. Hmm!)

Amazing machine. I am not familiar with the "knee" reference...do you control the machine with your knee on a control arm rather than a presser foot?
If so....that is really cool.

Yes! On this machine it is the silver colored bent wire thing that you can see in the picture with the machine in the case. You swing it down and to the right. I first learned to sew on a 40's era White sewing machine with a knee lever on the inside of the cabinet. You can still buy them to convert some new machines.

Interesting, I had never see that until your pictures. I know about the old treadles (I have one!!!) but yours is really neat. I would love to try that some time.
The wrap around case to table is also pure genious (sp)too.
