Briarberry, I emailed a seller in Canada with a WHITE (COLOR) FW for sale for $150!! She estimated shipping to the US and it's going to be too high for me. If you want her email address, PM me and I will give it to you!!
Yes, I'm an enabler!! |

How many vintage and antique machines does one have to own in order to be known as an addict? I'm up to 4 so far, but may not go higher for lack of space.

I don't know how many machines you have to have to be called addicted but at least there aren't the side affects that other addictions cause. This one is a pretty healthy one, I'd say..... except to the pocket book, ha ha!

I, too, am a vintage machine addict. Up to 6 now, but I am to the same point Charlee is - I am being selective because I am out of room! I passed up a beautiful Cinderella two weeks ago - the price was high, but decals beautiful. I still have the urge to go back and see if she is still there. But I am holding out for a 15-91 in a cabinet so I can free motion!
Congrats on your new machines, and good luck on your FW search - there is one out there with your name on it! |
I now have ten old sewing machines, I would still be collecting them except I have run out of room, lol. It is highly addictive and expensive too I might add. Love them though and still look for them, who knows I might run onto a FW I can afford one day. I will make room for it!!!! Addicted in Arkansas!!!!

Hope you find one. I am sooo addicted to the 221 Featherweight. They are cute, small and lightweight, but little work horses.

I knew all you quilters/collectors would understand. I have started going to auction/estate sales lately, still looking for a decently priced FW. I am trying to think of a way to display these machines, it seems a shame to have them sitting on shelves or in their cabinet waiting for their turn to be used. Do you folks display them or just store them?

Let me see (ummm...confess) now; I started this collecting thing (relating to vintage machines!) only about a year ago. I now have two 66's (Lotus and Red Eye); Two 27's (Sphynx and Pheasant); a 301, 403A, and a 99K; not to omit the little girl/toy machines; Singer Sew Handy, Montgomery Ward and a Puppy Brand little one! Whew.... I'm out of room and have two cabinets to refinish....oh I forgot the one a friend gave me two weeks ago, haven't had time to ID it yet but its a Singer in a cabinet (one of the two refinish projects) lol.... repeat after me-"I am not an addict; I am not an addict; I am not an addict"...............ok, good.

Hope you win the bid on the featherweight.
