Good Luck..... this collecting sewing machines is quite addictive... you might have to use the 12 step program at some point.... and I agree, your collection is not complete without a sweet little FW.

Hi, Wish you luck on the FW! :)
|
Hello, my name is Carol & I am a vintage machine addict. Since February I now have accummulated 6 machines & where I live they are not easy to come by. My daughter just picked one up for me for Mother's Day in a big treadle cabinet. Have just finished cleaning & shining it up & my friend in Niagara Falls has a Spartan that she wants to give me. I live in a 3 bedroom, 2 storey house with an additional 12 x 20 ft. sun room & I am running out of room. I converted 2 bedrooms into my sewing/cutting rooms & still don't have enough room !! I think I have a problem LOL.
Maybe I need to go into therapy !!!! |

This is the address to find decals, if it doesn't work for you, just put "singer decals" in the general search. Good luck. |

oh gee, you got the bug!!! Just like the rest of us. I got 2 singer 15's, my favorites ever. 2 301's, a 99k in cabinet, a treadle and 2 janome's. and a toy singer. Did I get them all? anyway, I would like the new Singer anny machine, even though I know it isn't like the old ones but it sure it cute. I don't need any more but then that has nothing to do with it. Hope you find your FW, but love that 15!

I know all you vintage enthusiasts will appreciate this. I started quilting about 6 months ago using my mom's old 15-91 because that was the only machine I owned and knew how to use. I am not a sewer, just a mender. I started reading about FWs and taking a quilting class, so decided I'd like to own one. In the mean time I picked up a inexpensive Brother machine for $30 on kijiji. It works just fine but then I saw a 99K so I got that too. It was too heavy to lug to class but then I saw an ad for a cute green 185J which I also bought. Of course it was as heavy as the 99K. All this time I am still looking for a reasonably priced FW. Then I see another ad on kijiji for a 301a in a cabinet for $50 so off I go to look at it. It is gorgeous, so home it comes with me. Still no FW but the 301a just pops out of the cabinet and is much easier to tote around and the stitch is perfect.
These machines just seem to show up in my life and I love them all, even the newer Brother because it zigzags for me. Right now I have a bid in for a FW at a local charity store so wish me luck. Meanwhile I will continue my quest and who knows what will follow me home! |

How many vintage and antique machines does one have to own in order to be known as an addict? I'm up to 4 so far, but may not go higher for lack of space.

Good luck on your FW quest!
