Linda, I have a question. The power chord that I ordered from Amazon stated that it would fit a 410A.
But when I received it, the female end of the cord has 3 receptacles, and the machine itself only has 2 prongs.
Will this work?

If it really is stuck, it just needs a good cleaning. There are several old threads about that on here. As I understand it, the 401 parts are very finely meshed. They must be oiled to work properly, but old oil can dry up and get sticky to the point it keeps parts from moving.

I'm sure you tried this, but one knob turns by pulling out and the other by pushing in.

How come the only machines I find at Goodwill are the cheap plastic with leaking oil and asking $50.00.

I was given a Kenmore 2Stitch that is missing the power and foot controller. Would you perhaps have one in your box of goodies. I was unable to get one from Sears as it is outdated. Not a great picture, I hope you are able to use it. Thank you.

In reasonably good nick they are well worth the price. They are the type of vintage machine well worth spending a bit of time, effort and money to get them running smoothly again. Used sewing machines are in plenty, bargains turn up and if you can wait and take on a fix up machine one will likely turn up. They are likely to require a bit more time and effort to clean up, but at bargain price they are still often complete with pedal and accessories. Selling a sewing machine is all about reaching the right person who know what they are looking for.

I think you nailed it there, Mickey. It's all about where you are selling/buying and being able to reach your target audience.

Also, if someone goes to a shop that sells machines, they often pay somewhat more for it. But it has usually been gone over and oiled, repaired, whatever and is in good running condition and if it's a good shop at all, they will stand behind what they sell. When you buy from Craig's List its normally an "as-is" situation so most people aren't willing to pay as much and shouldn't. They are taking a chance on the machine and may have to have it repaired.
