I have old machines because my grandparents were tailors, my great grandparents were tailors, my great GREAT grandparents were tailors and I think that profession goes even further back in my family. Every machine that I own brings me closer to one of them in some way. Besides, they all sew so beautifully. Why would I ever want to pay all that money for a modern machine?

Oh my goodness! I hope that you're safely on the mend.

Do you have your family’s machines that they used, or some like them that you’ve replaced them with? And if they’re family machines, what models, if you don’t mind me asking?

I have my Maternal Grandmother’s only two machines that she ever had. A 1906 White VSIII Treadle that she got used as a wedding present in 1928, and a 1959 Singer 404 portable w/folding table that she bought new.

Did you get any nuggets yet? Oops.. I forgot you didn't post your address...

I've been telling everyone to send them to you, and I'll head up there and pick them up sometime when I get a chance....

It's ok - I betcha we can store them out back and none of the critters would disturb them.

Miriam,

I hope your ankle heals well. It seems like they take forever to heal! Please take care of yourself and don't overdo! That is easier said than done! Did you fall in Florida or in Indianapolis?
