I would take it. I love my vikings. Be careful though it is so very easy to become collector!!!!

The flip side to this is the knknown factor. Two years ago, I bought an old viking machine at an auction. Took it in to have it cleaned and checked. I was told the sad news, it would have cost me $250 or more for parts and labor to have it up and running. It went to the sewing machine graveyard at his store for parts.

Accept and love it!

I have the Diamond viking, bought it 2 years back. But when I embroidery on it, no matter what design I use....it has puckers... :(

Take it... If you decide you don't want it... there are plenty of people on this site who would love to have it.

But of course, you can never have too many sewing machines.

I have my husbands Grandmothers Viking. Hubby is 62 so I am assuming the machine is a 1950-1960's model. This machine is a tank! It is still in perfect condition. I would take it and run like heck.

My graduation machine (thats what I asked for) was a 1972 Viking. I still have it tucked away and don't plan on giving it up. 1972 was the first year they came out with the non oiling machine. It had a 25 year warranty on it, and at 24 years I had some parts replaced and it didn't cost me a thing. They were well built back then. I just had to have the pc board replaced on my new machine. (Not a Viking) 5 year warranty so it was covered. I would hate to see what that would have cost to replace if I would have had to pay for it.
