I am still so excited I can't believe what I found today at Goodwill; my very own Singer Featherweight, in the original case, all in beautiful condition with TWO boxes of attachments and tools. Decals in excellent shape and the serial number tells me (ISMACS) she was born October 31, 1951 ! Amazing; simply amazing.

royllsister 07-31-2014 07:20 PM

I forgot to say that it was priced at $39.95 (nope, I'm not kidding!) I grabbed it up and will love it forever! It is missing the bobbin case and the footpedal/power cord.

What a wonderful find! I'm going to have to go to those places more often. I usually just go to donate items! Guess I'll have to go inside now.

quiltingcandy 07-31-2014 07:21 PM

That is so cool!

someday I keep hoping , I'll kick a little Black Box and there'll be something in it. Look down and see a price under $50. open the Box and find a brand new little black sewing machine. someday ..

This must have been a sewing machine kinda day .. you found the best, I found the worst we both came home with a happy face ..

Mrs. SewNSew 07-31-2014 08:18 PM

Wow. Amazing! I look at Goodwill all the time. I've even asked and the gal at the front knew exactly what i was asking about. She said she's never seen one there before. You won the lottery today!

Minnesewta-sam 08-01-2014 02:12 AM

Congrats on the best find ever@ Goodwill. I think Goody would be an appropriate name for it. Beautiful!

nwm50 08-01-2014 03:27 AM

Omg...omg...excited fir you! And at that price! It looks really good too! Bobbin case gonna cost but pedal/cord is affordable. Happy for you!

Macybaby 08-01-2014 04:07 AM

Great Score! It's what keeps us looking :)

I was at an antique shop and located an old cardboard box of attachments (OLD style, not newer ones). The guy at the counter said "bet you never expected to find something like that here" I just smiled, but the truth is that is exactly what I hope to find when I stop at those places LOL!!

Stitchnripper 08-01-2014 04:11 AM

Yay for your your great find! That's why I keep making my round of the thrift shops. You just never know what you will find.

Congratulations you hit the mother load. Very happy for you. Awesome.

Blackberry 08-01-2014 05:36 AM

What a great find and at a more than great price. I thought I did really well when I found one for $125 in very nice condition but it had no manual or accessories.

cookiemonster 08-01-2014 06:19 AM

Think footpedal is about $60.00 on internet, but if you have a damaged machine at home, maybe?? Either way still ahead in the price for singers are very expensive nowadays. People are going back to their oldies machine for they last ever. I found my 1st machine singer in yard sale $10.00 and sold to a quild member $30.00 before I knew to quilt and realize the use of such machine. I regret but live and learn.

janiesews 08-01-2014 06:28 AM

Congratulations! Great find. You will enjoy her and will be able to find a replacement bobbin case and cord/foot pedal without problems. You did great!!

oldtnquiltinglady 08-01-2014 06:51 AM

Oh my goodness, great find. Congratulations. I have never seen anything that nice at a GW. But, reading this forum one day, I read that a girl who was prowling around in a pawn shop while her husband was there trading or something, and way in the back found this little black case and peeked in to find a FW--the guy thought it was just a piece of luggage, and she held onto it until he charged her something like $20 for it and she floated out of that place on a cloud. Now every time DH and I go by a pawn shop I say, "wonder if they have a FW."

Mariposa 08-01-2014 06:55 AM

Congrats on your fabulous find! Happy stitching!

shasta5718 08-01-2014 07:03 AM

Good for you, If they have something even close here they price it over 100. Sometimes they have older machines that are obviously very broken and they still want a lot for them.

GreyQ 08-01-2014 10:26 AM

OK, I just fainted but I'm ok, don't worry. I can't believe this! If you ever find another one, I'll give you a commission & a big hug if you'll buy it for me.
PS CONGRATULATIONS!!!

tuckyquilter 08-01-2014 11:04 AM

The word ROBBERY comes to mind. LOL This is a great find and a terrific deal. Get her running and give us an update.

jbj137 08-01-2014 11:56 AM

***
*** Good deal
*** but around here they ask that much or more for old plastic junk
***
*** and SA is asking $249. for a coffin box machine.

It happens! I found a minty one with case and all attachments at the thrift store for $34.99. That was now at least 10 yrs ago. I couldn't believe my luck!! It definitely was NOT a centennial though!! What a bonus that is!

hamchips88 08-01-2014 12:30 PM

nice find.. congrats on the beauty you have found. you may want to look on sew classics web site you may find what is missing from machine there.

MargeD 08-01-2014 12:37 PM

What an amazing find, I'm so happy for you and what a bargain.

QuiltnNan 08-01-2014 12:44 PM

that's amazing. i keep looking, but none have come to my neighborhood

Caroline S 08-01-2014 02:46 PM

Try to find an original 221 or 301 bobbin case. There are reproductions that are being sold but the quality is poor. Perhaps you need to add a 301 to your collection. The 301 controller will also work on the 221.

scrappy happy 08-01-2014 03:32 PM

wow you do have a great find. and the price , lucky you. congrats

tessagin 08-01-2014 03:36 PM

Congratulations!!! It's gorgeous!! Super deal!! Now that I can get out again, I'm going to start hitting those places again. DH will have a fit but he will get over it.

Mdaniels 08-01-2014 04:04 PM

WOW--great for you, have fun :)
