Hi Quiltlady-
I did find your post, and yes it is gorgeous. I posted pictures of mine over a year ago on this thread, message #15 towards the bottom of page 1 (hope the link works): http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...s-t186338.html There are pictures of other W&W's and Singers too. Are you missing the bobbin cover plate on yours? Lyn |
No TinkerQuilts< i think there is one but it does not fit real tight< it kind of just lays on top and I think that it use to sort of slide in place> I will have to look at it more closely and see> is the cover the one that has a sort of hole that looks like the shap of a tulip> Do you have the manul for yours> I do but it is sort of falling apart> lots of stuff came with this machine it has more attchatments them my newer machine> but I don"t know what most are used for>
I just went to the posting that you told me about and WOW your machine is beautiful, love love your cabinet, I have never seen one like it, so different....they sure did make beautiful thing back in the old days.. I just looked at mine for some numbers or dates and this was what was on the plate ...Wheeler & Wilson Mfg Com Bridgrport ,Conn D9 ..pat with a bunch of dates one was Aug 18,85..there was nothing that said Singer so this machine must have been before Singer bought they out, do you think?...the number is no2608395 T hanks for the pictures |
Wow, what a lovely machine and cabinet.

Quiltlady-
Thanks - I think the "library cabinet" is fairly rare. I am truly impressed with how is sews tho. So smooth and makes a great stitch. When I get home this evening, I'll find the link where you can print off a copy of the manual. I think I found it on www.ismacs.net, but the firewalls here at work won't let me go there. My serial number is 2762558 with the oldest date Aug 2, 92 - so yours is a older than mine. Both are Wheeler & Wilson machines tho. Singer bought them out in 1904 I think. Charlee (on the board) would know more, and she was collecting serial numbers a while back, and she is SO knowledgeable when it comes to these great old machines. |
