Lew, Mercury in my area shows quite regularly and they are all bright colored. Usually flashy blue. This magenta must be a variation.
Miriam, where would you find a belt guard? Sewclassic? I was all for giving my daughter a real tool, but the black color of the Singer is not that fun for a kid :-) |
I started sewing when I was 5 - on a Singer 201. That was the machine all us kids (11) learned on. When we got good enough, then my Mom would let us sew on the real machine- her White ZZ.
I had older sisters to show me how to use the machine - with the knee control, you don't need to have your feet touch the floor to make it work. Older sisters were never too worried about the younger ones sewing our fingers and stuff like that LOL!! So I grew up thinking the Singer 201 as the "toy" machine. I love that pink - but I don't have any little girls around to buy a machine for :( |
My daughter would LOVE to have a pink machine.
To bad it is in Canada or I might consider buying it for her. |
I love that pink and the machine shape is adorbs! Go for it!
|
No way I'll find somebody here who will talk me out of it ;)
I wrote to the seller; going to pick it up tomorrow. DD will LOVE it for sure! |

I, too, am a sucker for pink - and more so Pink/Grey if I could find one.
But from the photo that looks magenta and almost looks like a paint job to me. |

I have a "Majestic" with the same body style - I'll see if a spoked wheel will fit it with out changing the belt guard. But not tonight.
