I'm trying to find out what speed controller I need for my jc Penney 7102 fs free arm sewing machine. Seems like the internet isn't helping me nor is Google lens. Sometimes you just have to ask the people who would know.

Welcome to Quilting Board. I couldn't even find a picture of your machine.

Can you post a picture of where it plugs into the machine? You still need to be careful. I picked up one that looked like it was for a Necchi, but it was a different size and possibly a mirror image. Eleven years ago I downloaded a file that showed many of the plugs and what machines they fit. Perhaps if there is a picture of where it plugs in, it may give a clue as which would work. It is possible that it has three pins, as many of the Japanese made machines have that type.

We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf
Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button.

I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.

Some additional info regarding reducing images at post #4 and images for the scroll and upload button can be found at #5 of https://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f...d-t312607.html

Another way to post pictures can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/showpo...postcount=1143

Or simply - Make sure pictures are smaller than 2MB
Click on red "Reply" button
Click on the paper clip icon
Click browse - choose picture/s. (only 5 allowed per post)
Once they show up as being loaded, Scroll over to the right side and click on "Upload"
After the pictures show up as being attached, you can close that window and go back to the screen to finish posting your post.

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

Do you have a foot controller/power cord right now? Does the foot control not work? replacing a foot control may not be a big deal, Janey has posts for an electronic control on Amazon. If the entire thing is missing then finding a foot control/power cord set up with a compatible plug to go into the machine might be a problem.

a picture of the plug in at teh machine may be helpful, too,
