I paid $20 for my tan 221J at an estate auction up the street. Got it home, did a little research and found the 221J's selling for $750 to $1000. Was a nice day.

Some were produced in low numbers and are rare and more valuable if you want a particular model. They all sew. There is a black 221 with a red "S" badge. All the white machines have a red "S", and the tan machines have a red "S". The black 221K red "S" is from 1960, 61, or 62 (depending upon the source) with a serial number that starts ES###### and the easy way to tell is the light switch is not on the base, but on the housing of the light. Do not have the numbers, but I have only seen 1 since I started using, repairing etc in 1994. Personally, I think that it is worth $350, but I appreciate both the function (sewing) aspect as well as the rare aspect. |

I don't know where everyone gets there FW, I bid 400 and 500 on a blk one and a white one, and still didn't get it. It was local and they were in great condition. I will find one some day for a good price. Just got to keep looking, like I need another old machine :)

I am new to this Board. I enjoy reading but rarely post. I would be VERY INTERESTED in this machine. I so want to find a FW so that I won't have to lug my much heavier machine to guild mtgs. and retreats, and sewing with friends. Thanks!! I can be reached at write jackie at att dot net
