It was a day worthy of it for sure. My son moved 16 hours away that day. We may see him once a year. A lot of other stuff was built up, too. I needed to hit something. That was VERY satisfying even though my DH did most of it... I've had a lot of fun with the whole thing and seems like everybody else has, too. The avatar parade has been a hoot, too. The CL ad is down. I don't want them to kick me off... LOL... It has been fun to see how many spammers don't read the ad. I had to spell sewing machine right so it would come up on a search. Here is a copy of the ad in case you missed it:

Sorry I missed that post. I couldn't believe it either Miriam, but seems we have a small market or maybe there just aren't that many people willing to drive a while. I left the ad for 4 hours (used this time to try and convince self I didn't need it - didn't work!) and it was still there! The guy was filtering and said afterwards he didn't want someone to buy it just to sell it for more.
It was $150 and I made pyjama pants last week on it for Audrey: Love sewing with it. Winding bobbins is something I've yet to get the hang of.

GreyQ 12-02-2013 11:22 AM

I never get tired of this thread.;)

miriam 08-27-2014 03:53 PM

I can't believe this is a year old. WOW.

miriam 03-22-2015 05:14 AM

ARGH it is in the garage in the box............. Maybe I need to get a rock tumbler for the small bits and drill holes in it to make jewelery....

Cari-in-Oly 03-22-2015 08:53 AM

Yep it's all the rage on Etsy right now. You'll be rich, lol.

Cari

miriam 03-22-2015 11:55 AM

Well maybe when the girls stay over we can see what we can do with bits.

Quincunx 03-22-2015 12:55 PM

Use the take-apart bobbins for a lock for a jewelry box, or something. Like, make a bobbin middle sized hole in the lid and glue the bottom of the bobbin there and use the top for a lock that can screw on.

miriam 03-22-2015 01:25 PM

I don't have any bobbins for that - I'm referring to Window #71 pictures - still in the garage...

mjhaess 03-25-2015 10:02 AM

Toooooo funny....Guess you showed that thing.....

miriam 07-18-2015 02:56 AM

ok here it is again. I'm wishing I could work on a machine at all right now - maybe smash one or something...
I'm taking care of my parents in their home 24/7. I'm rarely working on a machine let alone smashing one. Miss Mercy has been working on a crazy quilt on 10 inch squares of paper. Mom watched us, with a smile, struggle with getting the paper covered then she tore out the paper before I cut the square to 10 inches. Maybe it was her way of wrecking something? It has to be frustrating to be 89 years old and not able to do much. Tearing out that paper was a lot of work for her - maybe her version of a sledgehammer?

Rose_P 07-18-2015 06:55 PM

Miriam, I have no doubt at all that my mother would have done exactly that sort of thing if she'd lived long enough. She was good with sledgehammers. I hope you can still use your block.

Jeanette Frantz 07-20-2015 12:27 PM

I really get frustrated if I'm working on a machine that just doesn't want to work at all. I have a tendency to make dust out of them! LOL! But, Miriam's was better than any I've ever done! LOL!

miriam 06-16-2016 03:28 PM

I need to come up with a new thing. My son is planning to move back!

MFord 06-17-2016 02:06 PM

What kind of a new thing? A new sledgehammer, so you can show him who's the boss right away? Another T&S? I've got a parts machine Aerin gave me - I can send it out to you!

miriam 06-17-2016 02:16 PM

Margaret, we should have a "national sledge hammer something you are mad at day"... We would all be so mellow or is it sore? I'm just glad he wants to come back but don't really want to hit something. Maybe settle for happy dance.

Littledreamdevil 06-17-2016 03:02 PM

hey miriam

I will give you gas money and cook you a nice meal if you come a show my husband your sledge hammer. You need to tell my hubby what you did to the sewing machine also. I can't get him out of his recliner and away from the T.V. since he retired 7 years ago.

miriam 06-17-2016 03:26 PM

I wish I could get out of here once in a while. Maybe you could sledge hammer that recliner or maybe that tv... My hubby did most of that sledge hammer work and he loved every minute of it. I DID GET IN A FEW NICE BLOWS THOUGH. STUPID IPAD WENT ALL CAPS. I CANT MAKE IT DO ALL CAPS IF I WANT TO... SLEDGE HAMMER TIME.

MFord 06-17-2016 05:22 PM

No, no, they're too expensive! I'll send the machine!! I'm glad you are more likely to do the happy dance than sledgehammer your son. Although I've felt like it once in a while!

miriam 06-17-2016 05:36 PM

Not going to sledge hammer him either - he's useful - he's been taping drywall.
