Singer 301A

I am so darn excited I just can't sit still. I have been looking for a Singer 301A since my quilting buddy got one and I took it for a test run! What a great machine! It runs like a charm and sews through layers of Denim. I have a small business where I use recycled Jeans to make fun things and my machine was really starting to complain about all the layers!

So while I am in Oregon taking care of my Mom and getting her set up in an assisted living home, I found my machine! I had been looking on EBay and a variety of places and most of the machines are selling for a lot more than I can afford! I paid $59.95 for my machine, with the case even! and NO TAX! (I love Oregon) no shipping and I get to use it right now! I just wish I could figure out a way to post pictures from my mom's old computer! I would just have to show you how pretty she is! I name all my machines but have not given this one a name yet!

She is really beautiful, all Black and shiny. It is a short bed but really for now I don't even mind! I will have to go on line now and find some accessories for her~ any suggestions on a name?

The last machine I bought was a Viking and her name is Vicky, or Victoria when she is being difficult! You know a good machine in my opinion should have a name, after all they are Family to me~

congrats! if you click the "image" icon and click the "from computer" tab, then click the "choose file" option, brows to your file, select "open" the when you come back to the Image dialog click the "upload file" option.

PLEASE make sure the picture is 640x480 or smaller if possible. If not, PM me and I will send you my email address, you can send it to me and I will shrink it to size. (...or post it for you if you would prefer)

Steve

Thanks Steve, but the problem is this computer won't take the chip and I can't even find a usb port on it, front or back! I seriously thought I was going to find a floppy drive. I think I am going to take my pictures to Walgreen and down load onto a disc and then upload to the computer.

I don't know how old the computer is but seriously I thought all computers had at least one USB port. my lap top has 3, but there is no WiFi here either. If I stay much longer I am going to change that, so I can at least use my lap top.

LOL... ahhh the "good ol days" before all of the miriad variations of the "universal" serial bus. I thought you did not know how, but if I had paid better attention and noticed your # of posts I could have saved myself the post....

No problem, I am actually a retired "Geek" But can you tell me where I might find the serial number on the Singer 301?

The serial number is on the bottom of the machine - you have to turn it over - about under the needle bar.

What a wonderful find! I do get jealous for a second when I see a shiny black one, but my tan one sews perfectly so it doesn't last long. BTW, they really aren't a heavy duty machine even though mine came with four layers of leather under the needle. I have a back up, also tan, but a long bed. I haven't sewn with that one yet. The second one came with a full attachment box.

Congratulations! I acquired 2 - 301A's last year , one mocha long bed and one LBOW . I love the LBOW, it has become my favorite machine. It is so smooth and quiet and sews so well. I hope you enjoy your 301 for many years to come!

My 3rd 301 is still in its box. It is really dirty, and the only things I checked when I bought it were that it had a bobbin case, and that the wheel turned. I need to find the time. The first 301 runs great, and it is the one I use to teach the neighbor girls and to take to sew-ins. Love it!
