Singer Home Machine service manuals
 

I have the Singer Industrial sewing machine service manual section bookmarked.

I used to have the Home machine service manual section, but lost it when my other HD failed.

Can someone give me link to the Singer section for home machine service manuals? Not the owners manual, but the service (fix it, adjust it ) manual?

Specifically I'm looking for the ones for a Singer 413 right now.

Thanks for the link to one of "my" old threads. LOL! I'd completely forgotten about it. I bookmarked it this time.
Unfortunately the links in it do not have any identifiable manuals for the 413s. I've been through both of them till I'm blue in the face and didn't find what I'm looking for. I'm either blind ............ or just can't see the page for the links. Sigh ...........

Joe, I have a stylist, I think it's a 416, on my table now. What are you trying to fix?

This machine clatters like crazy. It's a metallic noise, and the faster you push it the louder it gets. We have had every cover part off this machine that comes off watching as it runs and just cannot find what's making the noise. The other 413 isn't quiet, but it don't clatter like this one.
Plus the stitch length control is out of adjustment. I'm thinking that might have an affect on the stretch stitch settings. At best it's difficult to regulate the stitch length.

Basically I'm trying to diagnose the noise, and adjust the stitch length knob so the numbers correspond to reality.

OK, this sounds funny, but it works sometimes.
Take a screwdriver and touch it to a suspicious part of the machine.
Put the handle end next to your ear.
Turn the machine by hand and see if this amplifies the sound so you can pinpoint the source.
Try different parts/areas of the machine.

Been doing that. I've used that trick for decades on my cars and trucks. The noise is in the main shaft or things connected to it.
When I unlock the stop motion knob to wind a bobbin it's as quiet as can be.
