I PM'ed "Lostn51" and he said that I could either change the motor to a 110v or get a larger sized converter than the one that I asked about in the first post. It's great having knowledgeable people to ask questions to. I guess some of the 221's that were made overseas have a 220v motor and need a converter to use in the U.S. I can't wait to get it!!!!! :-D It is being shipped out, today. I think I may become addicted. There was a little green sewing machine (Singer 185j) that was looking good, too. |

Anything that has the K after the number is going to come from the Kilbowie, Scotland plant and will more than likely be another voltage than what we have in the US. They did send I few machines this way but most went to the European and Australian markets. I am still looking for a 201K because it was an external motor machine and can be converted to a treadle. I have the 'white' 221K Featherweight. I didn't know I needed a converter. I guess I don't. I plug it regular and it hums right along. The motor is sealed so no lube needed for it. I think it was made in the 1960's. I didn't know the white featherweights are smaller the the black ones.

The one I bought doesn't have the "K" in the number so I wonder if maybe the seller was mistaken about it needing a converter. There are a few white ones for sale on Ebay, also. I think this must be a sickness or something :roll: but my excuse for having more than one machine is so that all my grandchildren will have one to sew on---no fighting.

Here's a pic of the 222K motor. The UK uses a different plug than the USA, Billy please correct me if I'm wrong. I'll need to get the 300w converter if I will use it very often.

Here's a pic that USA uses. There's a difference so that's why if you get a machine outside the USA you'll need a converter.

I also have a Centennial and a Barely Celery on Layaway! Can't wait to get them :-) |
Not all of the "K" series were wired for foreign electricity.
