Type of electrical converter to use with a Featherweight question
 

A few weeks ago I didn't even know what a Featherweight 221 sewing machine was :?: but after reading about them on here and looking at them on Ebay I am now the proud owner of one :shock: (Happy Birthday/Merry Christmas to me...fa la la la--la la la la :D).

I have to figure out which converter to use with it and I thought that someone on here may know which one it is. Here is one that is on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/VT-100GS-TRANS...0750833&sr=8-1 Is this the type? Does anyone else need to use one with theirs? Thanks ahead of time.

You're gonna love the Featherweight. I have 2, one doesn't work right now, but hubby has the winter off and I bought him the manual LOL. They have the most beautiful straight stitch. You'll love it. Never heard you might need a converter though. Did you buy it from Europe? Mine were made in New Jersey and just plug in the wall and work great.

Why do you need a converter?

I lived in Southeast Asia for several years and learned that, although I could get some U.S. items to work there with a converter, the converter was hard on the items and burned them out fairly quickly.

Congrats on your New FW! I have a few 221's and don't use a converter since it's a 110v motor. The 222K is a 220v motor and I bought on eBay and it came with a converter and it works great!

I got back with her on this subject right after she PMed me and I just saw the subject line this morning.

This is the advice I gave her and I think it will help everyone here who has a 221K or 222K that has not been converted.

You can get a step up converter but make sure it is at least a 300watt converter. The smaller wattage converter will work but continuous usage will kill the converter and have to buy another one.
