Unicorn decals
 

I have a machine that I think was a treadle, that someone put a motor on and put in a case. She has scroll decals with unicorns in them, a squared pillar, long-shuttle, and patented June 29, 1892 on the front slide plate. She is named Ruby, but is NOT the New Home Ruby. I can't find any information about what company made her online anywhere, everything I find is for the New Home Ruby. She is a gorgeous machine, and was covered with blooming rust when she was rescued from the curb and brought to me. But after being cleaned (it took 3 days) and oiled, she sewed perfectly the first time. Does anyone have any information on this pretty girl?

What does it look like under that peice of fabric? That covered up part helps tremendously in identifing a machine.

I also think it's made by Free, but the "New Royal" class which has some significant differences from other Free machines.

Round needle plate - Free, square needle plate Free - New Royal class.

BTW - it was rather common for the companies to make the same machine, decals and all, and then put different names on them depending on who the Reseller was.

It sure is a beauty, lucky you.

My Dad had a Ruby machine like that I wish I knew what my sister did with her. Sweet sewing machine, sorry no other information to help you.

It's a long shuttle, with front and rear slide plates. I know there are badged machines, but I've been searching by the shape and configuration, the closest I've found is a Rockford L, if I remember right. It's definitely NOT a New Home Ruby, not the same machine.

Jon, thank you for the needlebar link, my machine could be one of those. I'm just glad she was not left on the curb where my neighbor found her!

Hello! I just got a treadle machine that sounds very much like your 2015 post, but patent date June 29 1897. Mine says "Dutchess" instead of Ruby. I've been told it might be made by National or Davis, but that's all I know.
Did you ever get any further info on yours? I'm having trouble finding anything at all. thanks in advance.

Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button.

I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.

Or simply - Make sure pictures are smaller than 2MB
Click on red "Reply" button
Click on the paper clip icon
Click browse - choose picture/s. (only 5 allowed per post)
Once they show up as being loaded, Scroll over to the right side and click on "Upload"
After the pictures show up as being attached, you can close that window and go back to the screen to finish posting your post.
