I would wish them luck, but then they might try it again.

uhh,.... superb versatility isn't one of the first terms that comes to mind for a straight stitch machine...
and lightweight construction, no. Portability, yes.

Now this Pfaff is in beautiful shape, but out of my budget. Looks like a fair price to me though.

Sure puts the one I picked up a couple of weeks ago into perspective.

If I lived anywhere near you, I'd happily be a secondary storage place for any of your machines. ;)
I didn't notice the wood piece missing, but I read the writeups first, so it was a spoiler for me.

Photo 5 is of the power plate for the Landis sewing machine in the ad.
Why would a sewing machine require a heating system? (It's for shoe making, btw)

I saw that too. I had to know why it had a heating system, but didn't really see any reference, unless it's to heat your lunch at the same time? ;) My only real guess is to make the sole conform to the shoe and make it fit better while stitching...?

That is gorgeous. I wish I could buy it. I love the design of the decals. I hate to be the ad police, but your ad will not show up when someone searches "sewing machine". "Sewing" isn't anywhere in the ad. Also, "treadles" is in the ad, but "treadle" isn't, so your ad doesn't show up if someone searches "treadle". I just searched "treadle" (titles and description) in "SF bay area" and got 75 results. I don't think they're all sewing machines, but after looking at a few of them I think yours is under-priced. I doubt there is one other treadle on CL that is in running condition, let alone serviced by an expert. I never see them where I live -- they're always "attic fresh". Plus yours is rare, to say the least! I've always wanted to live in California -- to me it's like the land of the future (I live in NY). I love northern Calif. Your ad reminds me how much I 'd like to live there 'cause then I could buy your machine, and I'd have the space to keep it.
