I paid about $80 for my RAF in a decrepit cabinet that was being crushed by boxes in a garage. "Wings" is the nickname of a different set of decals that are much more rare. Good luck- hope it comes your way.

Don't think it would do much good but I'd suggest to the seller check out the ebay sold listing not those auctions seeking a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. However, even some of the sold prices are quite insane on some machines.

Not sure about this. The research I found indicates that the "Wings" is also known colloquially as "RAF". There is to my understanding one one eagle in flight pattern.

I'd LOVE to be wrong and learn something new..

Hey Steve, here's what we usually refer to as the Wings decal. It only came on the 115 model AFAIK, which is why it's considered "rare": http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mach.../wingspkn1.jpg

ahhh that is not the one i saw tagged as wings.... thanks!

Sure, $900 seems reasonable to me... after all, it has a 6 Amp motor (really?!?) and the owner hates to part with it. If s/he loves the machine so much, maybe s/he can draw a heart, or spell some love initials in the DUST that is all over it...

"I have for sale 99K Y Series Singer Sewing Machine (Manufactured June 21, 1924) Roughly 5000 were made that day. This sewing machine is in excellent condition, works flawlessly. All parts, belt, light and bulb are authentic Singer. Comes with the Singer 6Amp motor that it was sold with. The machine was assembled in Scotland, and the motor in England. This is a portable unit that takes up very little space. This is a one of a kind collectors item that I hate to part with. Asking $900 o.b.o. considering several factors such as age, amount still in existence, condition. "

5000 that day! Super factories!

"5000 were made that day", but this is still a "one of a kind collector's item"? Maybe for collectors born on June 1, 1924...

"Greetings,My Name is Steve Heeter. I am a collector of antique sewing machines. I run The Victorian Sweatshop (http://www.crimsonforge.com/VSS.html)
Although the Singer 15 "wings" pattern machine you have is way too new to be part of my museum, I do have a friend who likes these vintage "electrified" models. Would you be willing to accept an offer of $50 for that machine? That seems to be about the standard for machines in this incomplete/unrestored condition. Cash of course.
Thank you for you consideration,
Steve"

we'll see what happens

I got a phone message from this person expressing a willingness to meet to buy it.

PM me if you are interested Joe.
