Looking at the mechanism, it looks an awful lot like a Singer 15 clone. Is the tension assembly on the nose of the machine?
15 clone machine from https://www.quiltingboard.com/pictur...p-t164361.html https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...ent-279227.jpe There are many machines that have the tension on the nose, that are not clones, like the Kingston in the link above. The Centennial and Kingston would be considered Class 15 machines since they would use a 15 class bobbins and 15x1 needles. Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do. Obviously I didn't look at the pictures closely enough. The tension assembly is on the front. But still, the mechanisms under the machine look an awful lot like this is a Singer 15 clone. If maintained, I would be surprised if it doesn't sew perfectly for at least the next 100 years.

That is left to right to for the zigzag or is it stationary? By the look of things, this machine seems to be of a quality that it may well be sewing 100 years from now. |

ID if possible
I've spent a good part of the day trying to get information on this machine if possible model # 240B made in Japan machine.
it has Good Housekeeper plate on the front. I don't have the manual. I've gone through 23 pages on this thread and several other website with no luck. I'm also new to this forum. I'll attempt to add a picture. Please advice how to do that. Thank you to anyone that replys. |

Welcome to Quilting Board.
Does your machine look like the one seen at https://tumorfarmer.blogspot.com/202...ag-sewing.html ? Does you machine have a JA or JC number on the base? It may be very difficult to find an exact manual. If it is like the one in the above link, I think that it may be threaded like http://web.archive.org/web/201508162...ng_diagram.htm The Modern Age machine has instructions on the arm to change the stitches. I'm not sure what the lever with the black knob is, but it is possible that it is to change the needle position, but could be for something else. We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button. I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures. https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...p-location.jpg Some additional info regarding reducing images at post #4 and images for the scroll and upload button can be found at #5 of https://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f...d-t312607.html Another way to post pictures can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/showpo...postcount=1143 And how to use an ipad to post pictures can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/qb-hel...s-t318147.html Or simply - Make sure pictures are smaller than 2MB Click on red "Reply" button Click on the paper clip icon Click browse - choose picture/s. (only 5 allowed per post) Once they show up as being loaded, Scroll over to the right side and click on "Upload" After the pictures show up as being attached, you can close that window and go back to the screen to finish posting your post. Currently cleaning up (de-rusting) this unbadged 305 Deluxe Zig Zag. Hunting for the stitch cams, light bulbs, and light on/off knob. Runs well, no clicking, auction find for $10.

Welcome to the QuiltingBoard! What a great looking ZZ machine. I will admit to some curiosity about the function of a couple of those adjusters.
