Listing on ebay. Seller says the "internal arm belt is broken" but he has a replacement. Is this a hard fix? Only 7 hours to go and no one has bid on it. I was thinking about emailing and making him an offer.

Whatcha think?

Nanamoms, here's a link to a Featherweight Shop Manual that tells how to change out the shaft or the belt.

Can anyone tell me anything about a vintage Kenmore 301?

I think I am sort of interested in one. The color green is pulling in that direction.

What would be the highlights of this machine? What would be the low points or things to watch out for?

Thanks. :-D

Do we have any members close by there? I would bid on it if there was someone close by.

Miz Johnny sent me the same link. Made my eyes cross reading it. I would have to take it to my repair guy who does work on older machines. Don't think I would attempt this myself.

Thanks for link!! I put it in my Favs since I have a black FW!!

I guess the later machines had the timing belts on them, I never ran across one that had one on it.

I finally got my Spartan in the mail today. I hate waiting! Am leaving the office shortly so I can go home and play!

Thanks everyone! Rose is such a sweet machine.

I'm so surprised at how nicely the Standard machine stitches, very lovely! Every time I have experienced a new vintage machine other than Singer ( love Singers too), I fall in love again with the vintage machines. I just marvel at the mechanical parts and the engineering ingenuity of that time period. The greatest reward is that these vintage ladies and gents sew beautifully. Plus, treadling is very therapeutic.

Well, I don't have room for another cabinet. My Singer VS2 cabinet went into the dining room to make room for this one to be in my "command center" (as my husband calls it). heehee no machines in bathrooms -yet!
