loving this thread! I have a Singer 127 treadle that i am using and I have my Grannie's old Singer 99 clone. It was one of the machines made in japan and had a badge ont he front that said Royal. I turned it into a handcrank as the wiring to the motor was totally shot. I also have a White 3355 that has the left needle position. That is a bit hard to get used to but it sews beautifully. Dh is bringing me another machine home tomorrow. Its a New Home AHC (can't remember the numbers) it needs a new power cord though. I've been told that it uses a different needle and from the manual someone on a vintage sewing list told me would work the feet look completely different that anything I've used before.. Oh and my treadle is named Nellie....she's kind of tempramental sometimes. My Kenmore machine (newest) is named LillyBet and the White has not told me its name yet. Grannie's machine that is now a handcrank is named Vivian after my Grannie.

Hmmm...... I probably shouldn't even post this message yet because I only have a story to tell and don't have any pertinent information. I won't for a month. But here goes anyway - it's late at night and this is the time I usually tell the kids old time stories when we gather together. So it's late at night here and I'm going to tell you all a story. Quite a while ago our uncle broke up housekeeping (he was in his 80's and a confirmed bachelor from the old days). There was an old sewing machine that was my grandmother's and no one in the family wanted it. I said, "Hey, I'll take that". Didn't have any idea what it was other than a sewing machine. Just knew that was in a wooden cabinet, considered portable, and heavier than "haites", feels like 20 lbs. It sat for a long time in my sewing area and I had a brilliant thought one night. I have my first ever made sampler quilt hanging in a hallway across from the "loo" and thought it would look nice sitting under that quilt - right - my first quilt and my grandma's sewing machine under it. Well, I have to tell you, that was the worst idea I ever could have had. The next night, on one of my mad dashes to the "room", forgetting about that little addition on the floor, I slammed right into it and broke 2 toes. Needless to say, that "box" was relegated to the farthest space in the house and I haven't set eyes on it since. After reading this blog I am determined to dig it out and find out what it is. Hopefully I'll be able to post some information here and find out if it is something that I might be able to use. Don't know if it's the machine that weighs so much or if it's the cabinet that it's encased in. It's not much bigger than a feather-weight in the black case.

After reading all these posts, I'm anxious to get it out now. Thanks for creating this place. I'll bring my cappuccino machine next time I stop by.

Charlee, this was a definate help to me. I bought a machine this week that had some attachments. The machine was in pretty rough shape. I bought it only for the attachments.

But, being a complete novice, have no idea what they were and if the attachment was missing any parts. Thank you for posting pics of the attachments.

Well thank to the attachments that Charlee posted, I figured out I have the following:

The Ruffler
Pin Tuck Attachment
Binder shown on the Left
Binder shown on the Top
The first unknown attachment on the left

And a small piece that I have no clue of what it is. It looks like it connects to something. Will have to have my husband get a picture and post it.

Now I have to find out out to use these. Luckily there is very little rust on them.

I still need:
The Quilting foot
The Seam guide (one of my favorite tools, could use a couple)
The binder on the right
and I thought the model 66 had a walking foot!

I also found another bobbin for the 128 which I can't use so will mail to Billy.

I have most if not all of those same attachments for my Singer 206 that look as though they have never been used. I'll be back up at my Dad's on the 10th of May and will take some pictures. I love this thread too!

I agree with Jan, this should be under the main, is there a way for people to set up a file with there pictures on this message board? I wanted to see one again and it took quite some time to find it.

PS loving seeing all the machines, I would love to stay in the shop all day. I too, am getting little done except for spending time on the computer

I have so much to do today but found your topic. so I read it all and yes it is true.....I have an old machine downstairs. no idea what it is but by the end of the weekend I will drag it out and do some research. why is this addicting yea I know we have a lot of issues, all nice. Quilters take care.
