OK, think I found the wiring problem. On the back is a plastic contact point that fits a cord. The picture is with the cord removed. The contacts pierce the cord when the cover is screwed down tight. Only two of the contacts were touching the cord. I'm sure that the third is not a spare:thumbdown:. So, I just have to figure out which way the cord goes in. Does anyone have a Necchi BU that they could look on the back of and tell me if the cord exits left or right? Laura

Well, I'm going to need a wiring diagram for the Necchi BU. I'll go ask on the Necchi yahoo group. I've had to reset the circuit breakers twice, and the rest of the house is getting a little shrill about the electrics going off and on. Darn kids. .Wish I had room for another treadle and I could put it in on like MizJohnny suggests. But chances are this will be a catch and release, so i need to figure out the wiring. Cathy, do you have any hints for me?(Besides stop messing with things you don't understand, cause then I'd basically have to stop doing everything!) Laura

I won't tell you to stop. IF I did I wouldn't have any reason to come over anymore. You wouldn't need rescuing anymore. :D:D:D:D On a more serious note I am trying to make up a diagram for you. I'm just waiting for my phone/ camera to recharge. It died while I was taking pictures. Cathy

Why don't we just plan a chipoltles/rescue visit? This machine is frustrating me because everything is all tucked in and hard to trace. A nice normal machine I can deal with. This one with everything in the box on the back ( the box is also the motor mount) this one is giving me fits. It is a pretty green, though. And I have heard such nice things about the BU. Laura

I just aquired a Husquavarna Viking, from the fifties is my best guess. It has an army green crinkle factory finish and rounded design like the old Singers, unlike the squared ones that came later. Can anyone direct me to a thread about Vikings? I have no manual but know my way around these older machines. Will anything take the grime off a crinkle finish? Any ideas about how to date it? Serial Number C331917, Manufactured in Sweden. Maybe by the time I get him cleaned up, I'll learn to post pictures here. His name is Luden, written on the bottom of the drawer was Little Luden. Just occurred to me Luden might be a girls name in Sweden. Blush
