I think I may have found a manual, but it does not use a model number, it just says White Rotary Electric Machine. The picture looks like the one I have, but it is just the back side. http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine...ion_Manual.htm

I would appreciate any help in figuring this out. How to clean it up and all that.

I did find an article that showed the FR Whites and there was one that looked similar to mine, but in all bronze! Imagine that. So pretty.

Katia,
In trying to date my White Rotary machine I came across this website. http://community.webshots.com/user/arachneobsession
On there is a Serial numbers/Dating List and a ton of information on White machines and loads of pictures. Your machine was made in 1929.
Enjoy, Judy

Katia,

Heck I can even get a reproduction 221 and was thinking about buying one just to see how they act. If it was a high quality reproduction then I would start selling them also. I am going to be selling brand new Japanese 15's in 3 different colors next year badged under my companies name.

I've seen a bunch of reproduction cases and they are kind of expensive to me. It might just be me, but that seems high. Anyway, I also heard of people stripping off all the covering and sanding and finishing them since they are made of wood. I'm seriously considering this as an option. What's your opinion on this? What will it do to the value if anything? Curious. Goodness, if I was a cat with all these questions....

Hmmm, if it killed the cat, I wonder how? Oh, maybe by driving the person crazy with questions and drove them over the edge and got bashed in the head with a sewing machine, ROFLMAO

Hey it couldnt hurt what you have anyway, its broken and who knows it might look pretty good after you strip everything off and repair it. Then you could just stain and varnish it and there you have it. But you can always recover it to meet your decor or your favorite color combo.

Fortunately you can never ask me too many questions.....poor little kitty ;)

Well, thanks Billy, so glad to know that. Besides, I know you have furbabies and couldn't hurt one. By the way how is Lola doing these days? I am seriously thinking of peeling everything off and staining and varnishing it. It just hurts a bit. I feel like I'm defacing it.

Lola is laying right here beside me under my lap quilt and she is doing excellent! She has a doctors appointment tomorrow so I am trying to finish her quilt today so she can use it tonite and get used to it so I can take it with us to the Vets tomorrow.

As far a defacing the little fellow dont worry about it there are tons of cases (original) to be had so if you do that its not like you can not find another one. But this is coming from a guy who hot rods sewing machines with custom paint jobs.........

Been reading this forum for 2 days, I find it fascinating! Went to a "garage sale trail" last Friday and bought an old sewing machine. Don't know where to go to get some info on it. It is a Viking 33-10 Serial # E334982S. Any leads as to where I can look>?

Doug,

There is a yahoo site for FWs and a thread last week was with regard to restoring cases....here is a section of one of the replies that was posted:

"If you want to have a case that looks as original as possible, contact Glenn Williams of Glenn Williams' 221/222/301 Parts. He has the absolute best fabric for recovering cases and he sells by the yard. Also, you should use the best spray adhesive you can buy, such as 3M Spray Trim Adhesive."

This was posted by an OSMG by the name of Leo-he is an expert on the FWs...

I hope you find this information helpful.

The site is : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/featherweight/

Now I am all excited. I got a singer 66 but I was looking for a 15.
I dont care if its new old so long as it does what I want lol.

Also Billy have you had any luck finding shuttles and bobbins for the Domestic treadle (boye #7)?
Thanks

Billy:
So glad to hear Lola is doing so well. My next question was going to be about her quilt, but you just covered that.

Darcene:
Thanks for the information, but I think the LAST thing I need to do is join another group. I've decided to strip it and stain and varnish it. I really think it would look nice that way. When and if I decide I need an "authentic" one, I guess I could just buy another one when the time comes.
