One of my latest acquisitions I hadn't posted photos of yet. Jones Hand Crank. Not sure how old she is but she works. I just need to clean and oil her up and she's good to go. I will probably try and build a case for her.

Jenn, that Jones is going to be absolutely gorgeous when you get it cleaned up!

Not sure of her name yet...she's still in only fair condition..we are working on her, and her cabinet is damaged, as well as her coffin top. However...she's all here, including some of her attachments, and she does sew a good seam. I'm very happy.

Congratulations Janice! I love the Davis machines! What a lucky Davis VF1 to have been rescued by you! I couldn't pass up a Davis either - love those machines!

Welcome Steve,

You'll like it here with the many like minded souls. I like your machines.
Where in California are you?

Cathy (just out side of Sacramento)

I'm in the East Bay just south of Oakland. Thanks, I'm now to this whole sewing machine collecting business but I love the mechanics and complete rebuildability of these units. I have a 66 red-eye treadle that I am in the middle of doing a bare metal restoration on. I cannot believe how crappy they look when you start and then clean up to being like new.

My 1908 treadle powered 29-4 "Patcher" has already been tested with 16 layers of canvas and it did not even strain.

Yes, welcome Steve. Every time I see one of those patchers I think I want one. I don't know what I would use it for, I just want it. So cool!

Steve welcome! I love all your machines, but the 29-4 makes me envious! I want one of those! I found one for sale fairly close to me, but the people selling the machine thought they had a gold mine! I will find one, one of these days!

Yes, do like your machines. My DD and I own two 29-4 sewing machines. One is operational and the other is not because it's parts is worn out and no longer available.

SteveH 11-27-2012 09:32 AM

Caroline: Any chance i could enter a PM conversation regarding the acquisition of some parts? (or help you get the parts you need to get it working)

p.s. "Sweet Caroline"? My whole family is composed of Neil Diamond fans...
