Well, I'm now in....

I couldn't help myself. My curiosity got the best of me, #1, and #2 I wanted a small machine to travel with. So I bid on and won a Singer Featherweight 221. It came in beautiful condition and I downloaded a manual because the seller told me she had not oiled it. I thought to myself, "you can do it" and I did. It sews absolutely beautifully and I can't wait to piece on it because I'm joining the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt groupies. Can we all say, 'poor house'? If I get in there, I'll offer to make quilts for the other inmates.

I love your user name! Isn't that the problem though - too many interesting things to do and not enough years left to live.

Congrats on your new machine. I know the feeling about too many hobbies quite well. Woodworking, restoring old woodworking machines, sewing, restoring sewing machines too, gardening (though I'm a terrible gardener), bee keeping, the list goes on. I really have no intention of focusing on just a couple of them either.

My heartiest congratulations to you--we all are guilty of spending too much money for something that we "really must have", you'll get over the expense, and still enjoy your little baby sewing machine for years to come. FW is THE BEST for piecing (and any other straight stitch sewing) your quilts--even my GD, who doesn't really want to learn to sew will use my FW when I can get her to join me for some quilty sewing.

Congratulations!! They are fun to sew with!!

Congrats!!! don't be surprised if some more of them don't "find" you. That has been my happy experience.

I totally agree. I look at my stash of fabric and then think of my age, 74, and wonder if I will be able to use it all before the rapture comes and I am carried away. In the meantime, I will continue to sew and make charity lap throws because I am so passionately in love with doing it.
