What length cords do you make?
Is there a standard length cords that I should shoot for? I am updating the cords on a Singer 128. The cord to the foot controller seems short. My first thought is 6' to the wall and 5' to the foot controller. Am I off on that? These will go in a bentwood box so I am guessing I don't want to go overboard because it could get crowded.
Also I am thinking to use SPT-2 for the plug and the foot controller as long as I can get them to fit in that little terminal under the Singer motor. |
Christy,
All of the Singer motors with the junction box built in to the bottom of the motor that I have rewired, have used SPT-2 insulation. It's a bit tedious to work it all in there, but that's the way Singer did it, so that's the way I do it. I also use longer foot controller cords. I have a very tall work bench and set my cords so the controller sits flat on the floor with the machine on the bench. They run from 4' 6" to 5'. For the power cords I usually just stretch a length between my hands with my arms held straight out. That's about 6'. Joe |
Thanks Joe. It sounds like I am cutting it about right then.
