Here's the new-to-me Wheeler & Wilson No. 9 with serial number 80018. I found the glass presser foot in the drawer, gave it a quick polish and put it on. I'm going to go slowly with the cleaning, and once I'm finished, I'm making a quilt with it. It's my dream machine.

I'd like to hear about any experiences you might have with this machine!

Very nice! Pretty cool that you can't wait to get started sewing with it. :)

Very nice!! What is the harp space on that machine? It looks larger than most vintage machines I've seen.

FirstQuilt 08-24-2011 11:58 AM

The space measures 9 x 5-3/4 approximately. It's the same machine as the Singer W9 (or 9W?) that was made with the leftover Wheeler & Wilson No. 9 parts when Singer bought the company in 1904. I think the picture gives an optical allusion of great height, and I think it is a bit higher than standard. It was advertised as a "High Arm."

I'm guessing it's great for quilting, and I would love to hear from other owners of this treadle machine.
