Looks like a camera bayonet mount. Does the lens then push in to and twist to hold it in place?

nope, that ring is the spring clip that holds it together. the Lens just fits in a groove inside

HelenAnn, according to the parts diagram for the Spotlight, there is a Snap Ring, Part # 195129, that holds the lamp together. I think this is what you are referring to that is "major pain to get back on."

There is also a Tension Spring, Part # 195134, that goes inside the lamp under the lens.

Without this Tension Spring my lens fits very loosely and literally rattles around inside the Spotlight housing. It fits so loosely that the lens wants to fall out at any given opportunity.

Because it is a .pdf document, I can not copy and paste a full list of part numbers and their descriptions.

I have searched the internet extensively, and there is not one image of part # 195134 much less anyone that has one for sale.

What it would appear to be, is just a simple o-ring that is made of a soft flexible high temperature rubber or something similar that would compress easily when you install the lens.

I know I have a machine with one I will try to dig it out. I will have a 13 month walker to help me. (grand child)

part # 195134 is a ring made of spring steel that the ends meet.

I would like to see what this tension spring looks like so I can try to find a functional replacement!!

I really like to keep everything all original or at least as original as is possible, which can be difficult for a 65 year old Singer especially for the more odd-ball parts like the Spotlight which was used on a limited number of machines!!

As per my users manual for my 99k28, you just turn the lens and it will fall out. I had to dampen my finger tips so I could get the lens to turn and it did and it came out.

Looking into the light once the lens was removed, there is a small retaining clip. It is a small, thin piece of spring metal that goes around the circumference of the light. When I just removed the lens, the retaining ring broke in half. The lens will still stay in, but there is a wiggle in it. As my 99k in in a Cadet cabinet, I will just have to remember to be careful when I lift the machine in & out.
