Default Re-painting machines

I read a post the other day about stripping and re-painting a machine. I am wondering if the paint is an automotive type paint. I re-painted an old VW a few years ago an the paint on sewing machines seems to be similar when it dries.

I think that's what most repaints are done with.

I was going to repaint my FW. I contacted a few people who did this service and yes they use automobile paint as it gives a great result.

I had a friend repaint my FW with paint leftover from our truck repaint. It turned out really nice, but now I don't want to sew on it because it looks so nice!

Check out this blog. The lady is doing a FULL restoration of a 201. My DD sent me the link last week and I have not read it all yet.

Thanks for web site link..I briefly looked at it. Very interesting... I dwell on it when I have more leasure time..
Don't think I need to totaly disassamble mine..The inside is good except for oil build up in places. But the paint is chipped, scratched and mared. Decal are nearly worn off so I want to replace them,,

Hi Ccorazone,

I also found this link (http://stitchnerd.wordpress.com/2011...ewing-machine/) if taking a sandblaster to your machine is a little intimidating!
