Default Round Needles ?

ok I bought some 16x231 needles for my 103 today, and well they don't have a flat. I figured out the orientation pretty easily as i put the scarf so that the hook would pass through it. That leaves me with a left/right orientation with the Eye, the long groove on the "outside" towards the front(left)... there is no short groove. I assume this means I will thread from left to right same as like my 128's ? and has anyone had a chance to look at my 103 album and make a guess as to what bobbin that is ? I only have the one and I really need some more.

thanks
Dan

Dan,

We've been experimenting with round shank needles in two of our older machines too. Our 319K that normally takes the 206-13 will also use the 16x231s. You do thread them from the side with the long grove.

I'll try to find your album and take a look see at the pics.

Dan,

Found your album, and from the one pick it looks to be a regular class 15 bobbin. If you could measure it I can compare it with those I have here.

Thanks Joe, I don't have any class 15 bobbins, I guess I should get some.
The only bobbin I have that I know what it came from is my 306. And it is very very close. The 103 is ever so slightly larger diameter, though it fits in the 306 case. I'll bring my calipers in of my gunsmith bench today and see what they have to say.

Dan,

I posted the measurements on the other thread, but of all the bobbins we have the one that matches your measurements the closest is the ones for our 319K.
There was some variations between examples, but only a few thousands here and there.
