Oh, nice! Congrats! I love my 301a. It was my mother's and also the machine I learned to sew on. Great deal!
Don't be afraid to wax that black 301. Use a good car wax like a carnauba and it won't hurt the decals at all. In fact, a good coat of wax will help protect the decals. My husband waxed my FW for me and the decals look great.

Thanks, Patrice. I guess I couldn't hurt that black one, as it's really ugly. I must have been asleep at the wheel when I got involved with that one. Actually, I had an extra bobbin case that I got with my ugly featherweight (unseen auction item), but the black 301 was not worth what I paid for it, considering an ugly cabinet and a missing bobbin case.
Of course, when buying old sewing machines, sometimes you win and sometimes you don't. I won with the tan 301 and cabinet, so I guess it all works out.
