cover the decals with a magnet sheet when you sew - be careful not to rub them off when you put the magnet on and off though.

I put a magnet strip on the bed of my Free #5 to use as a seam guide, and forgot about it. Well, I had not used the machine for a while and when I opened it up recently and took that magnet off it took some of the varnish w/it! I was very unhappy about that but it was my own fault.

Last week my sewing machine friend was here working on my mid arm and he was able to finally remove it from the table! He took it to his shop and brought it back to life!! I brought it home today and put it back in the table. It sews like a dream!! He said it had very little use as most of its decals are intact only the ones that material ran across were slightly worn. It gorgeous!! The table is in pretty bad shape but usable!! I am really excited!! It's beautiful and means a lot because I know the original owner!! I will enjoy it for many years and then pass to my child!! How much fun!
My 15-91 has a similar story, grandmothers then mothers, both have passed away. In the process of reburishing the machine, it has had a hard, again my fault. I do have memories of my mother using the machine, but very little. I remember her sewing dresses for my sister and I on it when we were just little girls (at least 35 yrs ago)!

Just use it when you are sewing. It might help to use Glenn's polishing on it at some point, too.
