Default singer 221 bobbin trouble

I have been working and cleaning a Singer 221 Featherweight. The bobbin thread is not coming up. I have taken the bobbin out and rethreaded it and the machine have clean it so no lint. Does anyone know what I should do next?

Do you have the needle in, flat side facing left side of machine?

Are you threading right to left? I forgot the other day which way to thread and that's what mine did when I threaded it wrong.

Sewflower,

Did you remove the needle plate? If so when you put it back on did you get the finger on the bobbin case base back between the springs?

Yes I have done both of those things. That is why I am baffled on what the problem could be.

I know that I didn't push case back in strong properly with hook position correctly to have thread coming up on mine....
Just saying.

She is purring like a kitten. I did a little twicking with bobbin case and assembled but I think the problem was with the bobbin I was using. It may have been a little off. Thanks for all the suggestions and I am keeping my fingers crossed for now
