Default Singer 401 advice please

I have inherited a Singer 401 slantomatic from my DML. It is mint condition with every possible and immaginable attachment and in a beautiful cabinet. Furthermore it was used very little as she did not sew! How much would an honest price be to ask for this machine?

From what you say ,, not used, I'd bet the cams don't work... those cam stacks get gummed from not being used,,

this happens inside, you can see this without removing the top cover ,, on craigslist,, there priced between 40 $ to 150$,, you might guess which don't sell...

I got my mom's 401 and gave it to another lady, just to see her smile,, Thats it's value

I would suggest you use it rather then sell it, as it's one of the best Singer machines made.

Keep it - those are really a good machine. They are all metal and you can see what you are doing. Get it cleaned. The zz does tend to stick and the cam knobs do stick. Worth fixing - the sister (Singer 403) is my go to machine.

mercer63, here is my 401. I love it, I named it Jerry after my DH. It belonged to a old tailor. He used it till he was 92 years old.

I see them around here for $25-$200. The higher priced ones do not sell. If you can sell on ebay you will get more.

The lower priced ones will no doubt need to be refurbished.

No, not necessarily. And if they do need work it is usually just "unsticking" with penetrant and heat, and most folks here can do that themselves.
