I just spotted a photo of a page in the 1933 Catalogue and Price List (UK) on a blog page. It indicates on page 11 that the Singer Model 15k is the “Dressmaker’s Machine”, and it is mounted in a one-drawer drop-leaf table, and that the stand is fitted with a large band wheel to attain high speed.

So, I guess the Model 15 was also considered the “Dressmaker’s Machine”, at least by Singer in the UK.

Hymmm, interesting. I don't know what she has then. Whenever I see her again, I may try to get more info out of her about it. She is storing it in a pillowcase tied on the end, so it doesn't get dusty.

That is a cool foot control though!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you come up with a picture of it? I would love to have that image in my mind.

I immediately thought "201" and they did come out after 1933, but I also thought the 66 was its predecessor for the title.
That said, my grandmother was a tailoress and she used a 15k, so who knows?
They're all amazingly good machines, and I'd be happy to make a dress with any of them. Unfortunately I'm without a working 15k (Amelia stole it last week - take that!).
EDIT: I also thought 103k

Wasn't the Singer Model 66 referred to as the "20th Century Machine"?

I had a Singer 6212 that took a dive off the table(I was thrilled!), my little dog got hung up in the cords and dragged it off the table. I replaced that nasty Singer with a lovely new Bernina 1031, sewing was fun again; I still have my 1031....did I mention that its a great machine?

Not sure. I don't see her too often and she has a lot of health issues. Not sure when I will see her again or when I would be able to get a picture.
