Default Singer style box: which one do I have?

I have a Singer antique style/puzzle box wih most parts. I used an electrified treadle machine (1894) all my life, but never used these attachments. I assume my parents got treadle & box together, so 1894 box? As I read about style boxes and look at photos, mine looks like Style 11 except the holders at one end seem flipped. See photo. On the right, others have the 5-part holder below and "part 19" under braider above. That is, I only see images where the bobbin rack on the far left and the 5-part spray are both at the same end of the closed box. Mine are at opposite ends. What Style do I have? Thanks.

That looks a lot like my style #7. I have the original manual for the attachments & box for #7 and have scanned it. If you would like a pdf copy, pm me with your email and I will be happy to send it your way. I find the old attachments fascinating and they work great.

This is my first time using this site; the PM page was odd, so I found this Quick Reply. Anyway, PM me for my email address if you want to try sending my a pic of your style box type 7. Many thanks.

Ellen

Welcome aboard, Ellen. Most boxes have many pieces missing. Yours is so fine.

Hopefully Macybaby will be along and give some additional info. I think that a good indication of the differences for the VS machines is the tucker and ruffler.

Looking at http://needlebar.org/main/puzzles/index.html it appears that the "spider" is in the same position on all of them. I got one that the spider was where the underbraider is and turned so that it attached to the very edge and both ends were broken off and missing.

If you check http://needlebar.org/main/puzzles/style7/index.html it shows the ruffler and tucker for the #7 box.

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

Thanks, all. Next puzzle. My ruffler looks slightly different than a #7, the fork not attached as they show at Janey & John's needlebar link. But my tucker is quite different from the one I see there. I'm taking a picture of each of mine, attached.

That is the first style of Ruffler. Not sure about the Tuck Marker, but i believe it is of the earliest design

You have a much earlier box than #7- you have #3. though 4,5 and 6 appear to be something other than the "puzzle" style set, so #7 is the next one after #3.

This shows #3 (left) and #2

While the ruffler is the same, the tucker for #7 is quite different.

The first is in boxes 2 &3, the middle in box 7
