Default Smell from case

Does any one have a great trick for those smelly cases? My first thought is baking soda or charcoal. I know where to get baking soda but charcoal?? Where do you get that if you have a gas grill? LOL Or is there a better trick out there?

Try ground coffee. Sprinkle a "healthy" bit in the case and then close it up and let it sit for a few days. Vac it out.

When we were trucking, one of the more common loads we would haul would be onions, taking them back east from Oregon/Idaho. There, we'd usually pick up paper products to come back west. Couldn't load paper products in an "onion-y" trailer, so when we unloaded the onions, we'd spray out the trailer and then dust it with a 3 lb can of Folgers.... Sweep it out when we got to where we were to pick up the paper products and we were good to go!

Charlee is right. When I was very young working in a restaurant, we poured coffee grounds on the floor to sweep. It kept the dust down, but also took care of odors.

Also, have you replaced the oil pan liner of the machine if it has one?

Try putting a dryer sheet in the case for a while.

this may seem like a dumb question but what exactly is this offensive odour in the FW cases? I have 2 plus a 301 and all I smell in mine is an old machine/grease/"old garage" type smell... which I do not find offensive because my Grandpa had a garage in the 60's and I loved pushing myself around on the creeper. LOL
Is that what this odour is or are they prone to a moldy/musty smell....which is something I should try to guard against happening???

THX

Absolutely replace the oil pan liner. That often forgotten item is the worst culprit. Then follow with the other suggestions to help deodorize the case. You can do an Internet search for the liners. Or make your own out of wool felt using the old one as a pattern.

I replaced the liner in the oil pan on mine. It still smelled. I let it sit out in the sun; I used vanilla in the box and let it evaporate; the last was odor eaters. I left one in the box and closed it up.

Does Febreeze work? I have the same problem - musty, mildew smell and I am VERY allergic to it - makes me wheeze.

Try newspaper crushed into balls. My mama used this deodorize most things.
