So my husband brought home an Edison...I have a question...
For 10 dollars, to tinker with.
I think I am going to put a hand crank on this. I took the motor off.
But here is my question, I slid off the slide plates, but can not get them back on... any ideas? They fit, of course, but they won't latch in.
And of course I need to find the manual (or something close at least).
Everything moves on this, I was surprised!
Thanks in advance!

You might try posting on www.victoriansweatshop.com. Several members who used to post on here have a lot of experience with vintage machines. Good luck.

The original motor and wiring was pretty scary looking. Wires just cracked in my hand. I may replace it with a new motor and pedal kit, or go hand crank... not decided. Apparently Miss Edison (Edie for short?) sat in her case well over 30 years, and was sold as part of a neighbor's senior downsizing.

Motors can be rewired, cords replaced. There are tutorials "out there." Very likely the motor is in otherwise good shape. By all means make it a hand crank if you wish, just know that with a little work, you will have a very good motor.
