Default Tell me about my Elgin

I acquired this old treadle a few years back. It is The Elgin. Made by the Jarrell Company Rockford, Ills. Serial number C116331. It is a long shuttle. I don't know much about it other than the drawers lock when it is close and that it won't move at all. I gave it a dose of WD40 and will let it work its magic while I quilt!! Any information you can tell me would be welcome. I can't seem to get the picture to post. Will try later.

Your picture may be too big if you are using an iPhone. I have to resize any I take.

You'll want to wipe that WD40 out of there and replace it with Tri-Flow. WD is water displacement; it is not oil. It will harm the machine over time.

I plan to oil it well when I can get it to turn. Will use tri flow then. PB blaster works well on rusted stuff too, but again you have to oil well after using it.

Can you post a picture of your treadle irons? The Elgin is made by The Free company.
