Default Is there any way to get dents out of a bentwood case lid?

Does anyone know of any way to get dents out of a bentwood case lid? Or hiding/masking them? I've read about using water and an iron on regular wood but I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable using this on an antique piece of curved wood. Any information about this is much appreciated. Thank you!

youtube may have restoration videos that can help you. Here's one that may have some interesting information for repairing a broken bentwood case: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdQu...WhatSeamstress

I saw a video on how to fix a dented guitar neck that you might be able to use, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFr4...hannel=RobMods.

Wood putty and sandpaper I would think. And depending on how big/deep a dent is, maybe some wood chips or sawdust mixed with the putty to provide something for the putty to cling to besides itself.

"To make sure that you are adding strength to the case being repaired ALWAYS use wood filler. Wood filler contains actual wood shavings that will contract and swell with changing environmental temperatures and it dries completely, wood putty stays pliable and not a good choice long term."

just a comment from the restoration video...

the guitar folks use superglue to fill the dent
