The 185 is the updated version of the 99 which is the 3/4 version of the 66. If you don't believe me take the slide plate off the 185 and put it on the 99.

I believe you! Yes, it does fit, I just want both to have covers. I am sure I will find one somewhere.

I have the two 3/4 machines down out of the shop (not light to move) and have been playing for a couple of hours. The 185 J has a beautiful FAST stitch. It whizzes! I love these old. Machines.

the 99 has some bobbin issues. The bobbin gets stuck, thread doesn't move. I'll start a separate thread on that to see what advice I might get.
