Default Tidbits of info on sewing with treadle

Reading through the White manual is this little comment following needles sizes, "For colored thread use needles one size larger than given in the index above." Thought this was interesting.

Yes, you CAN do a zigzag stitch on a straight stitch machine. Set stitch length at least a little bigger than midpoint (on the White #4). As you sew wiggle from side to side matching rhythym of threadling. Boom! Really nice zigzag. It took me a couple of tries to get the feel for it. At first thought had to change tension but ended up just being I was over wiggling/sliding from side to side. Took about twenty minutes of playing around and practice and now have a zz as good as a cam zz.

I think it would take a great deal of talent to sew one's finger to the fabric. In all my decades of sewing, haven't managed it yet. I too would love to see a video.
