Default Treadle key

Hello,
I've brought a Jones Treadle sewing machine (unknown age) and the key for the front is missing. They open but don't stay closed, so I was wondering if anyone knew what type of key it would take?
I've tried my singer hand crank case key and a flathead screwdriver but neither turns the lock.
I'll try and attach some photos if anyone has any more information about this type of treadle that would also be amazing!

Hey Jonestreadle,
You probably already know that Jones was made in GB. There are not a lot of them on the West side of the pond. And fewer treadles. YOu may have to wait a bit for an answer of this one. Welcome aboard. and FYI There are at least 6 different Singer keys.

This is my Jones. Still looking ( casually) for bobbins.

Howdy from the middle of the USA.

Try Helen Howes. She is in the UK, I know nothing about international shipping and currency exchange. You'll have to ask.

Welcome to QB. It looks like you tried to include some pictures, but they didn't show up. I'm hoping you can get pictures to load. I know there are different size square keys, triangle keys and even skeleton keys. I had a triangle key that I sent to my sister for a friend of hers, but it didn't work. My brother made one for my sister's treadle. I used a square bit for my Weed.

It looks like it is probably square if it is like the one for Jones treadle at http://helenhowes-sewingmachines.co.uk/locks.html She also has made some square ones that are less expensive. There are also square bits like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mesee-Screw...5669509&sr=8-5

We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf
Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button.

I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.
https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...p-location.jpg

Some additional info regarding reducing images at post #4 and images for the scroll and upload button can be found at #5 of quilt block ID?

Or simply - Make sure pictures are smaller than 2MB
Click on red "Reply" button
Click on the paper clip icon
Click browse - choose picture/s. (only 5 allowed per post)
Once they show up as being loaded, Scroll over to the right side and click on "Upload"
After the pictures show up as being attached, you can close that window and go back to the screen to finish posting your post.

Hi all,
Thank you for your lovely replies, and taking the time to help!
I'll try and get the photos smaller and see if I can upload them! Shame it didn't work the first time, I'm not the best with these things 😅
Thank you for the link to the keys, I'll give that a look and might be able to get one that fits; the hole looks square so that seems like a good starting point
I do have one of the "bullet" bobbins, I have the same type in my hand crank too, so I think I have a theme going now!

I have just managed to get it to see and it works wonderfully so I'm very pleased about that!

I've heard that sometimes you can find a flat screwdriver to work for squares, but it needs to fit good on the diagonal.

Welcome to the QB from SE Michigan. Some of the best of the best have already replied to your question and it looks like it may take a bit of time to find what you are looking for. Again I just want to welcome you to the QB.

I can see the photos. It's weird. Sometimes others can see the photos and I can't.
