Default Treadle Machine on ebay ..... really?

I saw this ad on ebay for a New Home treadle machine. When I brought the photos up, I had to laugh. Treadle .... really?!?! Why is there a motor and wiring attached to it then? Am I missing something? Where did they come up with the date for the machine? Ebay is an interesting place to shop. You just never know what you will find or see.

I don't think people even had electricity in their homes in 1882...

That isn't even a treadle handwheel. Some folks have no idea what things are and just slap a date on it and call it good.

Yep!! Definitely antique. You can tell by the patina and the motor. Motor most likely a prototype in anticipation of the marvels of electricity that would come in the next 15-20 years. Truly a one of a kind. , .

I think that one's a turtle back. The motor's built in. You can't remove it without leaving a big hole in the back of the machine.
Belongs in the Giggles thread.

I just sent this guy a question on Ebay...I asked him if he could identify what that was in picture #4 (the motor)....and the strings that attached to it. What a ding dong!

Seems like an honest seller. Guess he has "read and been told" wrong. Happy the Guru's have corrected him.
