Yours is almost an exact copy of my 27 treadle. Charlee is right, they take regular needles. Mine is about the same shape and has the same sphinx decals. I'd love to have a handcrank version. I'm cleaning up the treadle first and then working on the machine itself. Luckily I've got a really good shuttle and a bunch of bobbins and the machine sews well.

To tell the difference between a 27/28 and 127/128 check the shuttle. Is there a little button that you press to lift the shuttle out? If not, it's a 27/28, if so, 127/128.
:) Pretty new babies!! They take a standard 15x1 needle, you don't have to buy Singer needles...any brand will work.

Do yourself a big favor and use the treadle. I use mine all the time. I seem to have more control and I can really make that machine sing! Needles can be found at most sewing / fabric stores. I buy mine at Richland Sewing Center in Hurst, TX. I don't know if they have mail order though. They also carry bobbins and other parts.
