Once you get it cleaned up and going, I don't think you'll regret getting it. Mine has beautiful stitches and sews through thick layers with ease.

AARRGGHHH. I need your help on this .. you see the back of the machine above. how do I cut through that greasy dirty yuk that is on the back. I thought I would just soak it with oil and then wipe it off using some elbow grease. I have used lots of elbow grease and oil and it does not want to come off. My friend suggested a Mr Clean Magic Eraser, it worked. Am I damaging the finish using the magic eraser? I see no scratching marks and there is only dirt and grease on the eraser. No green paint. I think this was used in a shop that the people using it had oily/greasy hands. suggestions???

Some machines take a lot of cleaning - I have one I'm still cleaning on every time I look at it. I don't know what was on it whether cigarette, kerosene or heating oil smoke - it is/was filthy with goo in every corner and crevice. It may never look perfect. Then I have had machines I thought were hopeless that cleaned up amazing.

Here is a link for a manual. I love the machine and the cabinet. Great find.

Gojo with no pumice. Somewhat harsh on delicate decals like Singer Redeye and Sphinx though I'd test on your green paint in inconspicuous spot as it removes gunk quickly. If it doesn't work out it's great for removing oils and grease from hands and arms.Originally Posted by wilburness
any ideas of how to get thru this grease?
